About the Initiative

The Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE) leads India's cold-chain energy efficiency program — a public-private effort to benchmark, modernise and decarbonise cold-storage infrastructure.

Mission

Decarbonise India's cold-chain through transparent benchmarking, EE measure adoption and renewable integration.

Geography

Active across Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Bihar, Maharashtra and Gujarat with national rollout planned.

Stakeholders

AEEE, BEE, state energy agencies, cold-storage owners, financial institutions and technology providers.

Recognition

Aligned with India's NDC commitments and the National Cooling Action Plan (ICAP).

How the platform works

  1. Cold storages submit operational data (capacity, energy use, technology, RE).
  2. The platform computes Specific Energy Consumption (SEC) and benchmarks against state averages.
  3. An AI engine recommends prioritised EE measures with payback estimates.
  4. Government users monitor sector-wide progress and design policy interventions.
